In a world where adopting a pet often means visiting a closed-in facility where our heart strings are pulled to the max when viewing lost, abandoned, or surrendered animals in lockup behind metal bars or even within glass enclosures, it's wonderful to discover a place here in the Palmetto State where that's not the case. If you're interested in an adoptable animal in South Carolina, head over to Hollywood to visit an animal rescue and sanctuary that's not like the majority of pet adoption centers. (Mind you, we are still VERY thankful for those facilities, too. If they are in the business of saving the life of an animal in need, then we are ever so grateful.)

But out in Hollywood, where urban sprawl hasn't quite arrived yet, there are acres and acres of wide open spaces — including the 30 acres occupied by Hallie Hall Animal Sanctuary.

Hallie Hall rescues animals in need and provides them with a safe haven, often running around and living life to the fullest until they meet their perfect fur-ever adoption family.

As a 501 (c)3 facility and no-kill community, Hallie Hall relies heavily on donations, many of which come from animal adoptions.

They also feature events throughout the year, like the current Holiday Auction that will raise much needed funds. Don't think when you click that link you'll find they are auctioning off the pets! It's quite the contrary... they're auctioning off wonderful gift items that you probably will find hard to give away once you win. Items like a custom-curated painting of your pet (currently up to only $190), a handmade quilt with cat silhouettes on it that any cat lover would appreciate (currently up to $145), and oh-so much more.

And while Hallie Hall Animal Sanctuary is filled with ready-to-adopt pets (just in time for the holidays)...

It also cares for many animals that arrive in not the best of health. Bella arrived to the sanctuary in November. She has severe allergies and has lost most of her fur.

She's getting much-needed veterinarian care at Hallie Hall. And we hope Bella improves quickly and that she soon finds her fur-ever home, too. The facility has a number of special needs adoptable animals, if you're interested.

And it also has many, many healthy animals just waiting to meet you.
