Of all the New England states, Rhode Island wins the top prize when it comes to its shoreline beaches. But you may be wondering, "with all these gorgeous waterfront areas, are there any waterfalls near me?" Well if you turn inland you'll find that we have some stunning waterfalls in Rhode Island. Whether a manmade or natural wonder, waterfalls are magical spots that provide a sense of tranquility. One of the most stunning waterfalls in the Ocean State is Ponaganset Falls. This roadside waterfall is easy for all to admire with absolutely no hiking necessary.
Ponaganset Falls is a slightly curved cascade that varies in water volume during different seasons of the year.
In addition to being quite photogenic, the falls produce a soothing sound as the water tumbles over the drop.
You can find the Ponaganset Falls on Hemlock Road in Clayville.
The falls is visible from the roadside and doesn't require any hiking unlike the ever popular Stepstone Falls that requires a 2-1/2-mile trek through the woods.
Ponaganset Falls is at the southeast end of the Barden Reservoir.
Water spilling across the falls then makes its way to the larger Scituate Reservoir.
The falls have a relatively short drop but are wide enough to showcase their liquid beauty.
You can see why this no hike waterfall is one that photographers return to again and again.
Like all Rhode Island waterfalls, these change from season to season but always allow for a welcome respite. Even taking just a quick break from your busy life to check out the falls will make you feel calmer.
