Rhode Island's known for its natural beauty - and rightly so. However, we don't have that many waterfalls, like in some states. Those we do have, though, are absolutely magnificient and worth the visit. When you're not really up for a scenic hike, plan a visit to one or more of these Rhode Island waterfalls - no hiking required.
1. Harrisville Falls – Harrisville
Carve out an hour or two for your visit to Harrisville Falls, a spectacular cascade that tumbles down 30 feet into Mill Pond. 2. Ponaganset Falls – Clayville
Nestled along Hemlock Road in Clayville, Ponaganset Falls is an easily-accessible waterfall you can view right from the side of the road. Make it a point to visit in each season - when the waterfall is framed by snow, flanked by fall foliage, and shimmering in the golden spring and summer sunshine. 3. Slater Mill Dam – Pawtucket
Journey through history with a visit to Slater Mill Dam, which offers guided tours and regularly hosts programs. If you love waterfalls, your favorite part of the property will, undoubtedly, be the casade. The Blackstone River falls over the dam to create the magical waterfall. 4. Shannock Falls/Horseshoe Falls – Shannock
Whether you know it as Shannock Falls or Horseshoe Falls, this beautiful and easily-accessible waterfall is striking all year around. 5. Keynon’s Grist Mill – West Kingston
If you're a fan of Rhode Island's rich history, plan a visit to Kenyon's Grist Mill. The historic site hosts regular tours and special events throughout the year.
