The Most Romantic Valentine’s Day Hike You’ll Find in North Dakota

Do you think that hiking can be a romantic activity? I sure think so. Come on, think about it: just you and your favorite person and the splendor of nature for as far as the eye can see. Incredible views. Breathtaking sunsets. In fact, I believe that hiking can be one of the most romantic activities there is, and North Dakota is a remarkably wonderful state for couples' hikes. This Valentine's Day hike is nestled within Theodore Roosevelt National Park and is positively idyllic.

Known as the Lower Paddock Creek Trail, this hike is seven and a half miles of incredible views, awesome wildlife encounters, and seemingly endless skies overhead. The river winds through the entire park, offering some incredible canyon climbs, overlooks, and more. It's the perfect adventure for a couple!

Think about it: lay your head on your love's shoulder while looking out over the incredible valleys of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I bet these views would make a perfect backdrop for the ultimate, adventurous proposal: Ask your love for forever in one of the coolest places on the planet! What more could you ask for? I think it's perfect.

Other than the views, my other favorite aspect of the park is the sheer amount of wildlife one can spot. Cuddle up to your beloved and watch herds of gorgeous wild horses running free throughout the hills and valleys. Look for the countless prairie dogs; bison are another commonly-spotted critter.

This national park in North Dakota is stunning year-round; in the winter, there's just something about the frozen landscape that makes it especially breathtaking. Some winters, you might even get away with no snow on the ground - it depends on many factors. I've seen Februaries with very little snow, and I've seen Februaries with an absurd amount of snow - it depends on Mother Nature and how she's feeling.

No matter how she's feeling, though, one thing is certain: This incredible hiking trail in North Dakota might just be the most romantic hiking adventure for couples. Every last detail is pure perfection: the breathtaking beauty of the region, the stellar views, the wildlife watching, the infinite sky... I don't know about you, but I can't get enough. It's so very perfect for those of us who love the outdoors; while some might appreciate chocolates and fancy dinners, others like to get out and about and truly enjoy the world around us. I suspect everyone here is exactly like that.
