Whenever I feel stressed and overwhelmed, I head outdoors. I firmly believe in nature therapy and its many mental health benefits. However, when I need some time outside, I don’t want to head to a destination filled with people — I want to go someplace top secret and lesser known. Tcha-To-Ga Nature Trail at Jacomo Lake in Missouri is one of these destinations. This beautiful nature trail is short, sweet, and easy. Plus, you likely won’t come across many people on your way.
Lake Jacomo is a beautiful destination in Fleming Park, near Blue Springs, Missouri. It is a popular recreation area and many people come from all over to enjoy some time near and on the water.
And while you can always spend plenty of time at the lake, there are also miles of trails for you to explore including the beautiful Tcha-To-Ga Nature Trail.
This is a 1.4-mile loop trail located on the eastern side of the lake. It is the type of trail where there is so much to love that you want to share it with everyone, yet you also want to keep it all to yourself.
The Tcha-To-Ga Nature Trail is considered quite easy and flat. In total, you will climb approximately 100 feet in elevation. You will find the trailhead and parking area for this trail off East Park Road, across from the hoofed animal enclosure at Fleming Park.
As you explore this trail, you’ll enjoy a variety of views. You’ll hike through forested areas that are green and beautiful during the summer months. You’ll also enjoy lake views where the water may tempt you and you’ll have a hard time not jumping in.
Despite the short and easy nature of this hike, I recommend you take your time. You never know what unique vegetation and remarkable wildlife you may come across. Also, because this is a lightly trafficked trail, it’s easy to stop and hear the sounds of nature — something you won’t find in the city or crowded outdoor spaces.
Just remember to come prepared for your journey. Bug spray is strongly recommended and always make sure to wear proper footwear. This trail may be short and flat but you never know what obstacles you may come across along your way.
