9 REI Products That I’m Excited To Try Out in Missouri This Year

Gear up for Missouri outdoor adventures! Discover the must-have REI products perfect for summer hiking, camping trips, and outdoor fun.

This year, I’m upping my outdoor game in Missouri because there is so much to see and do! REI’s gear lineup has me excited to hit the trails, roads, and campsites in style and comfort. From innovative bags to trail-ready shorts, here are my top picks:

1. Ruckpack Sling

I’m ditching my fanny pack for longer hikes this year, and bulky backpacks aren't comfortable. Enter the Ruckpack Sling. This crossbody bag has a stabilizer strap to keep it from bouncing on sprints or bumpy declines. It’s water-repellent, gender neutral, and has plenty of compartments to keep essentials organized without tempting me to overpack.

2. Swiftland 5” Running Shorts

Missouri’s humid, swampy summers demand smarter clothing choices, and these lined running shorts are perfect. They wick moisture, dry quickly, and eliminate chafing. Goodbye under layers! With pockets and wide waistband, they’re as practical as they are comfortable. I love the Clove Green pair, but honestly, save yourself some time and get all four colors now.

3. Sahara Stretch Convertible Pants

My husband’s new hiking enthusiasm [finally!] calls for some proper gear. He usually doesn’t wear pants past April in Missouri, but he’s going to need pants for tick and scratch protection in the woods in the warmer months. The Sahara Stretch Convertible Pants are a perfect compromise. Hidden zippers convert these performance pants into shorts. He can strip down after our hikes! And I need to mention - he is a big guy. Finding quality outdoor gear for big & tall men can be challenging. REI has inclusive sizing for men and women.

4. CTY e2.2 Electric Bike

I’m ready to take on Missouri’s 240-mile Katy Trail, but I’m in my “smarter, not harder” era. This e-bike reaches speeds of 20 mph and tracks mileage through your phone. Plus, as an REI Co-op member, I’ll get two years of free adjustments. Hello, effortless exploration!

5. Wonderland Comfort Cot

After too many disposable air mattresses with unrepairable holes, I’m investing in the Wonderland Comfort Cot for camping. It’s plush, water-resistant, and elevated 14” off the ground for a better night’s sleep. Weighing just 20 lbs, it’s easy to carry and built to last with its sturdy metal frame.

6. Reusable Antimicrobial Pee Cloth

Ladies say goodbye to drip-drying on the trail! This clever cloth has a waterproof side, an antimicrobial fabric side, and reflective threads for nighttime visibility. It snaps closed and clips onto your pack. These come in a handful of fun patterns; grab several. These make great gifts for the “person that has everything” because I’m guessing they don’t have Pee Cloths!  Great for long road trips, too.

7. EX90 Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller

Missouri summers mean mosquitos. I’ve been using this rechargeable mosquito repeller for years, and it works like magic. This year, I’m gifting one to every friend so I can enjoy bug-free patios without wearing bug spray.

8. DayLoft Hammock

This year, I’m vowing to slow down to enjoy quieter moments, and the DayLoft Hammock is calling my name. Its spreader bars keep it horizontal (no more folding in on myself!), and the mesh bottom is perfect for warm nights under the stars.

9. ’90s Logo Pullover Hoodie

The coziest hoodie ever? Quite possibly. With brushed fleece on the inside, this REI-branded hoodie is soft, durable, and available in sizes XS-5X. It’s a staple for those cool evenings around the campfire.

Missouri’s outdoor beauty deserves the best gear, and REI’s lineup delivers. Whether you’re hiking, biking, or just relaxing in nature, these products will make your adventures more comfortable, efficient, and enjoyable. What are your must-have outdoor gear items?
