1. Tulip Festival Near Kansas City, Missouri

Can you imagine a spring activity more charming than a U-pick tulip festival? Well, maybe! The Family Fun Farm in Kearney, Missouri, also hosts KC Berry Fest, Ciderfest, Fall Festival, and a seasonal pumpkin patch. So, if you missed the tulip fest, plenty of other seasonal Missouri festivals are at this farm.
The best time for you to visit the Missouri tulip festival is from the middle of April to late April. You should be able to see the most vibrant colors of the tulip blooms during the first few weeks of April.

3. Go Kayaking – Underground

A trip to Crystal City Underground has been on my list for YEARS. Hop in your own little boat for an unforgettable adventure just 45 minutes south of St. Louis. Guides recommend booking at least three weeks in advance. This is one of the most incredible things to do in Missouri. Please note that the age requirement is 5 years or older.
4. Visit the 1904 World’s Fair Exhibit at the Missouri History Museum

St. Louis proudly hosted the 1904 World’s Fair, leaving behind a rich legacy of artifacts and history. At the Missouri History Museum, you can explore a thoughtfully curated exhibit, revamped in 2024, that highlights diverse cultural perspectives often overlooked in traditional fair narratives.
Located in the heart of Forest Park, one of the largest and most celebrated urban parks in the United States, the museum shares its home with iconic attractions like the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Science Center, St. Louis Zoo, and The Muny, the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theater. These destinations make Forest Park the ultimate day-trip spot in St. Louis, offering a perfect blend of history, art, and outdoor recreation.
5. Visit the State UFO Capitol: Piedmont, Missouri

The Missouri General Assembly designated Wayne County and Piedmont as the UFO capitals of Missouri, a designation dating back to sightings in the 1970s. This may be a tourism ploy, but I’m in! Some friends of mine recently had a blast exploring sites around the county, and I can’t wait to do it myself! Plan your visit around the 3rd Annual Piedmont UFO Fest: April 24-25, 2026.
There is free, adequate parking for visitors attending the Piedmont UFO Fest in Missouri. The park is also considered highly family-friendly, with kids' activities, fun alien-like sculptures, and well-received playground equipment.
6. Must-Do Festival in Missouri: Cinco De Mayo Cherokee Street Festival

Located near downtown St. Louis, the vibrant Cherokee Street Neighborhood stands out for its cultural diversity and eclectic mix of unique small businesses and antique shops. The annual Cinco De Mayo Cherokee Street Festival is a can’t-miss event, offering live music, authentic food, and colorful celebrations. Don’t miss the chance to join the People’s Parade – participation is free and open to all! Another one of my favorite cultural events is the Festival of Nations in St. Louis, held annually in late summer; it is a foodie paradise.
7. Lake Life

One of the best things to do in Missouri in the summer is to enjoy our beautiful lakes. I can’t pick just one, so I’ll suggest some of the biggest: Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, and Mark Twain Lake. They all have marinas, campgrounds, beaches, and plenty of Airbnb properties to stay nearby. Not a lake person? We have thousands of miles of rivers and streams; you can go floating in Missouri instead.
If you were born after January 1, 1984, you must possess this state’s boating safety certification card to be able to operate a motorized boat. Still, for you to rent a motorized boat, you must be at least 21 years old. Regarding fishing permits, you need one if aged 16-64. Hopefully, you will be among the people enjoying summer at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, or at any other bigger, beautiful lake sooner.
8. Ultimate Vacation Home at Lake of the Ozarks
Have you ever wanted to feel like you were in one of those epic Mansions from the lifestyles of the rich and famous-type show? The rental rates for these vacation homes vary significantly, depending on factors such as size, season, and available amenities. Reserve this Osage Beach Airbnb for your next adventure.

If you plan to pick apples at Weston Orchard in Missouri, be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
11. Mark Twain National Forest Is a Must!

The Mark Twain National Forest wilderness area covers over 1.5 million acres, so you have lots of options to access the beautiful, clear streams, many parts of Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and caves, plus enjoy “mini mountain” hikes. While an area this huge may seem like an “obvious” place to visit, it is often overlooked because many of the most pristine parts are located in southeast and central Missouri, some of the least populated areas in the state. The Mark Twain National Forest is one of the best places for fall foliage hikes in Missouri.
12. Stay in the Treetops
Add this enchanting stay to your Missouri Airbnb bucket list. You and your beau will rekindle the romance at this unique Airbnb in Missouri, modeled after a fire tower. Southwest Missouri is one of the warmest parts of the state, but it hosts a hidden winter wonderland. Branson, Missouri, is known for being a quintessential family tourist destination most of the year, and winter doesn’t disappoint. Theme parks like Silver Dollar City and Shepherd of the Hills bust out the holiday cheer with twinkling lights and drive-through displays. Thrill seekers can add snow tubing to their winter bucket list. Don’t worry, the tubing run is open all year, if you miss it during the holidays!

Visit Hermann, Missouri, and you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time. Charming historic brick buildings house adorable shops, restaurants, and nearby wineries, breweries, and distilleries. With its vibrant German heritage, Hermann is also one of Missouri's for Oktoberfest destinations!
19. Perfect Family Day Trip in Missouri: Caves!

Missouri has over 6,000 caves, but only a handful of the big ones are open to the public. Mark Twain Cave is one of my favorites due to its beauty and easy-to-reach day-trip spot in Hannibal, Missouri, about an hour north of St. Louis. The last time I was there, the music and light show made me cry; it was so mesmerizing!
20. Epic Hike Near Kansas City: White Tail and Old Kate Loop
This trail is one of the best hikes in Missouri: waterfalls, streams, wildlife, wooden bridges, diverse plant life, rock formations, and more! The best part is that this hiking trail near downtown Kansas City is easily accessible for a quick detour from an urban vacay. The trail is a loop and easy to navigate; however, I still love using my AllTrails+ app to track my progress. The length of this trail is almost 2.6 miles. You can find parking at the trailhead.

Look no further for the ultimate romantic night out in Kansas City, Missouri. Head to the iconic Pierpoint’s at Union Station, where you’ll find 60 percent of the historical spaces in the 1914 restaurant intact; it is drop-dead gorgeous. The menu features classic Kansas City steak cuts and seafood - it's fine dining yet still approachable, with favorites like the baked pimento cheese appetizer.
