1. Castle Trail - Camdenton
- Location: Ha Ha Tonka State Park
- Length: 0.8 Miles
- Difficulty/Other: Easy. Kid-friendly. Dog on leash. Wheelchair accessible
Dog moms, you will enjoy this family-friendly hike. This mostly paved trail is short and sweet and leads to the ruins of a European-style castle that was burned down in 1942. There’s an overlook with pretty water views of Lake of the Ozarks and interpretive kiosks where the kids can learn about the history of Ha Ha Tonka State Park. For extra adventure, combine this trail with the Tonka Quarry Trail Green Loop to see more stunning views, rocky formations, and historical sites.
2. Rock Hollow Trail - Grover
- Location: Rock Hollow Park
- Length: 6.2 Miles
- Difficulty/Other: Easy. Kid-friendly. Dog on leash. Wheelchair-friendly
Featuring rocky terrains, scenic overlooks, waterfalls, and flowing creeks, this multi-use trail in Missouri is jam-packed with adventure. Your furry pal will love going off-trail to explore the woodlands. Visit during the spring to see the narrow creek valley along the trail covered with blue-eyed Marys, bluebells, and other pretty little wildflower blooms. This paved trek is great for the entire family, but be on the lookout for mountain and off-road bikers as you hike.
3. The Grand Hiking Loop - Branson
- Location: Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area
- Length: 5.7 Miles
- Difficulty/Other: Moderate. Kid-friendly. Dog on leash.
What you and your pup will love the most about this refreshing hiking trail in Missouri is that it has lots of rocky spots and several stream crossings. So your doggie pal will have plenty of opportunities to play in the water. You’ll encounter rocky terrain, some elevation changes, and slippery areas, so I advise wearing sturdy hiking boots for this trek. Four different trails make up this loop, so you can mix and match your adventure.
4. Whispering Pines Trail - Farmington
- Location: Hawn State Park
- Length: 10.1 Miles
- Difficulty/Other: Challenging. Dog on leash. Backpacking
Backpackers and avid hikers, this 10-mile picturesque trail is one of the best hikes inside Hawn State Park. While meandering through the forest, you’ll come across several stream crossings, scenic ridges, rock formations, and sweeping mountain views. Of course, pack your camping supplies - trust me, you and your four-legged companion will want to extend your time here.
5. Rocky Top Trail - Kaiser
- Location: Lake of the Ozarks State Park
- Length: 2.2 Miles
- Difficulty/Other: Moderate. Dog on leash.
This is one of my favorite dog-friendly hiking trails in Missouri. The hike is short, not too challenging, and the rewards are worth the trek. Portions of this peaceful trail meander along the shoreline of the serene lake and lead to the largest glades inside the Lake of the Ozarks State Park. The rocky cliffs overlooking the water are great spots to stop and take in the gorgeous views and watch the boats cruise by. Your furry friend will have a blast on this scenic trail in Missouri.
