However, paying a visit to one of the state’s more popular swim spots means you’ll likely have to fight crowds of people – and that’s no day at the beach. Luckily, there are lots of hidden beaches in Mississippi, where crowds aren’t the norm, and peace and quiet are. One such spot is Hickory Ridge. One of the best hidden beaches in Mississippi, it boasts sand, sun, and, most importantly, a secluded locale.

Hickory Ridge Recreation Area is the perfect place to spend a peaceful day on the water.

Not only is the recreation area nestled on Enid Lake, but it’s tucked away in the tiny, 500-person town of Pope.

It’s a “day use” area, so unlike most recreation areas, it doesn’t have a campground. However, that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in amenities.

The recreation area has plenty to offer, including a lakefront beach – complete with stretches of soft sand.

And while there’s no lifeguard on duty, the beach’s swim area is roped off to ensure swimmers’ safety.

There are also free lifejackets available for beachgoers.

Nothing works up an appetite quicker than a day at the beach. Luckily, the recreation area features dozens of picnic sites. Each site includes a grill, serving table, and picnic table.

The grounds also include a basketball court, playgrounds, group picnic shelters, restrooms, and showers.

Between the serene waterfront locale and an array of amenities, it’s clear: Hickory Ridge is a perfectly peaceful summertime escape!
