Luckily for us, the Kisatchie National Forest is home to countless primitive trails that will bring out the inner explorer in you. If you're looking for an easy trail to start your forest trail bucket list, consider the Glenn Emery Trail - a short and sweet trail with some great payoffs. Let's check it out.
Just north of Alexandria, the Glenn Emery Trail is great for both beginners and experienced hikers.
Clocking in at just under four miles, the out-and-back trail is great for weekend adventures.
The trail will lead you through the beautiful mixed pine and hardwood forests.
The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, but keep an eye out for the blazes nearby just in case.
As you approach the end of the trail, you'll be met with some truly stunning scenery.
The trail ends near Stuart Lake, a beautiful five-acre lake.
For an all-day adventure, pack a lunch and enjoy it on the sandy beach before heading back.
