Luckily, the endless maze of boardwalk trails at Barataria Preserve will keep you occupied for hours.

Few things are as calming as taking a stroll through Louisiana's wetlands, and Barataria Preserve certainly delivers when it comes to scenic views.

You’ll find Barataria Preserve tucked away in the heart of Marrero, Louisiana.

You'll feel like you're a million miles away from it all, and you kind of are when you head over to this isolated little slice of paradise in Jefferson Parish.

This fabulous nature preserve clocks in at a massive 23,000 acres of pure Louisiana beauty.

Marshes, bayous, swamps, and forests all make up this important nature preserve, and the trails will give you a glimpse at some of Louisiana's most breathtaking natural scenery.

There’s an extensive boardwalk and gravel trail network that winds around the preserve.

All of the trails are less than two miles long, so you can mix and match depending on your schedule.

Great for kids and great for solo strolls, Barataria Preserve is a hidden gem full of incredible marsh and bayou views.

Bring the whole family for one adventure, and then come back and visit for a peaceful and calming afternoon on your own!

You might even spot a swamp critter or two. The area is home to scores of alligators, turtles, snakes, raccoons plus all your feathered friends like egrets, herons, and others.

You'll want to check preserve's website beforehand, as they frequently do repairs on some of the boardwalk trails, but the preserve is typically open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
