The Largest Pumpkin Patch In Iowa Is A Must-Visit Day Trip This Fall

I'll be honest - I've been looking forward to fall all year. The season kicks off as soon as September hits, and the weather starts getting a little cooler; but it really begins in earnest as farms shift from late summer events celebrating sunflowers, along with other florals and produce, to focusing on that most fall-worthy of crops - pumpkins! It's no surprise that the largest pumpkin patch in Iowa is found on a world-class farm: Lawton's Scarecrow Farm, a sprawling family destination that is usually alive with a thrilling festival during its entire active season. The fall is no exception, as the massive pumpkin patch is surrounded by family-friendly attractions and delicious food and drink. It's one of the best ways to spend a fall day in the Hawkeye State, and you'll want to bring the whole family!

That's a lot of pumpkins! But that's just scratching the surface at Scarecrow Farm - the largest pumpkin patch in Iowa.

Pumpkin-picking at Scarecrow Farm is a full-fledged event, with a massive field surrounded by countless family-friendly activities.

Pumpkins are lying all around the field, yours for the taking for the reasonable price of 39 cents a pound, with a two-dollar minimum. Squashes and gourds vary in price.

And of course, once you've found that perfect pumpkin for giving your house a fall touch, it's time to enjoy the rest of the farm!

Scarecrow Farm's pumpkin season is part of its beloved fall festival, featuring a massive corn maze, as well as seasonal food and drinks.

It's also home to wagon rides, a thrilling slide, and some great photo ops for the whole family.

For those who would rather celebrate the bounty of the season, head to the on-site farm market to pick up some specialty fresh and jarred goods.

If you're lucky enough to be at Scarecrow Farm on September 30 and October 1, rejoice and strike up the band - it's Oktoberfest weekend!
