Castle Rocks State Park draws individuals from all around the world. This Idaho state park is popular and well known for one thing — it’s incredible rock climbing. The unique rock formations at this state park are hard to beat and provide an experience that is worth traveling towards. However, when autumn comes, this state park is more than just a place filled with rocks, it’s also a place with mesmerizing fall foliage.
Castle Rocks State Park is located in southern Idaho, not far from the teeny tiny town of Almo.
This area has a rich history that goes far back in time. In fact, it is believed that people have enjoyed the beauty of this land for nearly 9,000 years.
Castle Rocks State Park offers many activities for people of all ages. During the summer, many individuals come to rock climb and camp …
… and in the winter, it is a popular destination for snowshoeing.
But in the autumn, this southern Idaho state park is home to breathtaking fall foliage. And, with the vibrant autumn colors surrounded by the rock formations, the views are picturesque in many ways.
One of the best ways to enjoy the fall foliage at this state park is to go on a hike. The Castle Rocks Trail is one hike that I love to recommend.
This hike is approximately six miles and is a loop trail. It has some challenging areas and you will climb approximately 1,000 feet in elevation but the fall views are worth every step.
And if you want to enjoy the autumn scenery even more, consider spending the night. Here, you’ll find several unique glamping opportunities including The Lodge, which is actually a century-old ranch house.
There’s also the popular Willow Glamping Yurt, which is a 22-foot diameter yurt with a king-size bed, furniture, electricity, and more.
Fall foliage views at Castle Rocks State Park are remarkable and beautiful. Don’t be surprised if this southern Idaho park becomes one of your favorite fall destinations.
