The Best Waterfront Stays in Idaho for a Scenic Escape
Escape to Idaho's most stunning lakefront rentals. These five dreamy stays offer waterfront views, peaceful settings, and unforgettable getaways.
The Gem State may not have stunning coastal views like our neighbors, Washington and Oregon, but we do have beautiful lakes with mountain and forest backdrops that dot the entire state. While many of our lakes make for postcard-worthy day trips, there’s nothing quite like an overnight adventure, and the best waterfront Airbnbs in Idaho are worthy of any escape. I have found five lakefront Airbnbs in Idaho that are perfect for in-state travels, family vacations, and even weekend road trips. Each one is packed with amenities, and the views are breathtaking—each rental is absolutely dreamy.
1. Romantic Retreat on the Lake - Sandpoint
Offering the most incredible views of Lake Pend Oreille and Schweitzer Mountain, this lakefront Airbnb in Sandpoint, also known as Le Petite Bijou, is pure perfection. With one bedroom and one bathroom, this cabin is ideal for a romantic couple's getaway, boasting cozy vibes everywhere you look. However, outdoors is where this cabin rental truly shines with a private dock, remote location, and epic views. There’s also a grassy lawn where you can relax under the stars, and during the day, there is a power boat on site that you can rent for some time out on the lake.
2. Waterfront Escape With Sunset Views - Harrison
You will find yourself mesmerized all day long by the scenes you’ll experience at this waterfront Airbnb above Lake Coeur d’Alene. During the day, you can stare at the blue water of Lake Coeur d’Alene, and as evening comes, you’ll be enchanted by the fiery sunsets overhead. Even better, there are three decks where you can enjoy these scenes, including a lower deck with a private hot tub. Inside, you’ll find amenities such as four beds, 1.5 bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and large windows throughout the home. Make note that there is a steep and long staircase to reach the water from the rental—you’ll want to exercise caution and watch children closely as you make your way down.
3. R + R Lakeview Rental – Coeur d’Alene
While not right on the shore, I couldn’t leave off this lakeview vacation rental in Coeur d’Alene. This gorgeous Airbnb sits up on a hill, offering the most exquisite lake views. This is a large home with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and massive windows that let you enjoy the mountains, forest, and lake landscapes that make this area so well-loved. Outside, you can also take in these views from the large hot tub, deck, or around the fire pit. And when you want to head into town, you are less than five minutes away from downtown Coeur d’Alene.
4. Secluded Lakefront Getaway - McCall
You can escape the crowds and enjoy some peace and quiet outdoors when you stay at this lakeside cabin rental on Payette Lake. Designed for a couple or a small family, this home sits right on the water, where you can walk out the back door and onto your own private dock. Jump into the lake and cool off in the summer months or even hop in a kayak and paddle around—the opportunities are endless. Inside, you can relax after a day of water adventures on the plush bedding, and enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, TV, Wi-Fi, and a wood stove.
5. Bear Lake Retreat – Fish Haven
Bear Lake is one of the most popular getaway destinations in southern Idaho, and this beautiful Airbnb in Lake Haven is a secluded family-friendly destination that you’ll want to book early. With space to comfortably sleep nine guests, your entire family will be comfortable during your stay. However, outdoors is where you’ll spend all of your time, as you can relax and enjoy views of the lake’s bright blue water or even take a short walk to the beach and dig your toes into the sand.
A day at the lake can quickly turn into an unforgettable multi-day adventure when you stay at one of the best lakefront Airbnbs in Idaho. Just make sure when you find a favorite vacation rental, you book early. Many of these rentals, especially during the summer months, can fill up quickly.
