Before Word Gets Out, Visit Boise, Idaho’s Newest Accessible Playground

Did you know that the City of Boise manages nearly 100 developed parks across the city? It’s true! And at Pine Grove Park, there’s a new addition to ensure individuals of all ages and all abilities can enjoy the area — an accessible playground. This playground officially opened to the public during the summer of 2023 and is complete with an inclusive swing set, sensory walls, and more. It’s a space for children between the ages of two and 12 to get outdoors, play, and enjoy one of the city’s beautiful parks.

Boise has no shortage of places to spend time outdoors. From its many city parks to the Boise River Greenbelt, there are opportunities for a day outside all around the city. Now, children of all ages and all abilities can also find joy in the fresh air at the city’s newest accessible playground at Pine Grove Park.

Located on West Shoup Drive, Pine Grove Park offers a handful of amenities including restrooms, a half-court basketball court, fenced dog park, and plenty of grassy areas. Now, it is also home to the newest accessible playground in the city.

This is just one of 16 playgrounds accessible for children of all abilities.

The playground is designed for children between the ages of two and 12 and it has something for everyone.

The swing set, for example, features a secure seat and an attachable harness.

If your child loves to climb, he or she will love the flux capacitor, which is a blue, brown, and gray climbing structure made of unique orbs.

There are also garden sensory walls and even a momentum corridor, which features overhead bars and provides a unique rolling experience.

Installed underneath the playground is a special rubber material that not only provides a soft surface but makes it easier to navigate for those who may use various assistive devices.

Children of all ages will have fun climbing, sliding, and exploring at the new accessible playground at Pine Grove Park in Boise. You better check it out before word gets out.
