If your idea of a day at the beach involves peace and quiet far from the bustling boardwalks and restaurants of Ocean City, MD, or the busy beach towns above the Indian River Inlet, you'll fall in love with the 344-acre oasis that is Fenwick Island State Park.
One of Delaware's best-kept secrets will allow you to enjoy a quiet day at the beach, just a short drive from the busiest beach towns in the region.
Fenwick Island State Park is tucked between Bethany Beach and Ocean City, Maryland, but you will almost never find a crowd here!
The best part? Even though the crowds may be much smaller, you'll still find amenities galore. A snack bar and restrooms make it easy to spend the whole day here.
Most days, you'll have plenty of time to stretch out on the sand and take up all the space you need. What a difference from the crowded beaches of Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, and even Ocean City!
Fenwick Island State Park is also one of the most accessible of Delaware's state parks. A beach boardwalk and mats offer a way to the shoreline, and beach wheelchairs are also available, ensuring that anyone can enjoy a day by the water.
One thing that draws visitors to Fenwick Island again and again is the pristine conditions of the water. Fenwick is far enough south that the ocean is bright, blue, and clean!
Come spend a day in this quiet beachfront oasis and take a break from the hustle and bustle of vacation town life. This is what a day at the beach is supposed to be!
Lifeguards patrol the beach during the day from Memorial Day through Labor Day. For more information on amenities and happenings at Fenwick Island State Park, visit the park's website, here. There is a $5 entrance fee for Delaware residents, and out-of-staters will pay $10 for access.
