The Pumpkin Patch At MacDonald’s Ranch In Arizona Is A Classic Fall Tradition

Fall wouldn't be the same without visiting at least one pumpkin patch, and MacDonald's Ranch in Scottsdale has one of the best. With pumpkins grown by local Arizona farmers and tons of activities for all ages, this patch is a fall tradition that you absolutely can't pass up this year.

Scottsdale's favorite horseback riding destination, the family-owned MacDonald's Ranch transforms into an autumn wonderland every October.

Complete with a pumpkin patch, yard games, festive photo ops, and tons more activities the whole family can enjoy, the festival is wholesome fall fun for all ages.

Upon arrival, the first thing you'll want to check out is the sprawling pumpkin patch. Dotted with scarecrows and hay bales, it will put you in the spirit of the season in no time.

The pumpkins were grown by local Arizona farmers, and no two are exactly alike. Whether you prefer one that's smooth and round or oblong and covered in warts, rest assured you'll find the perfect fit. Pumpkins cost between $2 and $60 depending on the size.

Many of the attractions, such as the hay maze and petting zoo, are included in the price of admission, while others cost an additional fee.

Discounts are available: $2 off for veterans, active military, first responders, teachers, seniors 55 and up, and clergy, $1 off with a non-perishable food donation, and $2 off for parents and grandparents. The first two discounts are offered daily, while the last one is only on Thursdays.

Some of the other activities you can enjoy at no extra charge include panning for gold, a pedal car, and life-size versions of popular games like Jenga and Connect Four.

The festival has enough to keep you thoroughly entertained all day long, so it's a good thing there are no time limits!

You never know when farm skills might come in handy, so why not let the kids learn how to milk a cow?

Considering the ranch is known for horseback riding, it only makes sense that pony rides are offered to children 10 and under.

The price is $5 per child - a nominal fee in exchange for the priceless memories that will be made. The barrel train, caterpillar bounce, mechanical bull, and food for the petting zoo animals all cost extra, as well.

General admission is $10 per person on weekdays and $12 on weekends.

Children ages two and under get in free, and same-day re-entry is allowed.

The patch is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday-Monday from October 1 through Halloween (last entry at 5 p.m.) Tickets must be purchased on-site.
