These 13 Epic Mountains In Montana Will Drop Your Jaw

Montana's diverse and scenic mountain ranges offer unique beauty and numerous outdoor activities.

The name "Montana" is based on the Latin or Spanish word for "mountainous," so needless to say, our state has its share of scenic mountain ranges. Each of our mountains adds such a unique beauty to the Treasure State and these amazing photos capture how incredible they really are. Here are just a handful of the best mountains in Montana.

1. Bridger Range

This mountain range is best seen from Bozeman. If you want to explore this area and truly admire its beauty, take a scenic drive, or try the adventurous 4.5-mile hike up Sacagawea Peak along the Bridger Range.

2. Moonset over the Bitterroot Mountains

This photo was snapped along the Nez Perce National Historic Trail in Florence. In the winter months, if you want to explore the Bitterroot Mountains, rent a snowmobile and go on an adventure!

Did you know that the Lewis Range is home to Montana's Triple Divide Peak? A triple divide is a point on the Earth's surface where three drainage basins meet and only a few are found in the United States.

You'll find the Rising Wolf Mountain in the Lewis Range in Glacier National Park. The peak is inspiring any time of the year.

9. Supermoon Setting in the Centennial Mountains

The Centennial Mountains are located in the Bitterroot Range. Only a few ranges within the Rocky Mountains trend west to east, the Centennial Mountains and the Bitterroot Range are one of them.
