In business since 1960, Mitchell Farms has expanded tremendously over the years and now includes a whopping 1,500 acres! In addition to pick your own fruit, such as tomatoes and peaches, the farm offers other fresh fruits and vegetables, peanuts, the best pumpkin patch in Mississippi, and tours of both the farm and the on-site historic cabin, which is filled with antiques and memorabilia.
First opened to the public in 1996, Cedar Hill Farm offers a little bit of everything. Located in the small town of Picayune, Coastal Ridge Farm is a u-pick flower farm. Open seasonally, the farm opens its sunflower and zinnia fields to the public, allowing individuals to stop by and build the perfect bouquet. Williams Family Farms is another of the state’s u-pick flower farms. In addition to u-pick flowers, the Wiggins farm offers an array of other activities as well as hosts a variety of seasonal events.
What's the most beautiful hike in Mississippi?
Farms with designated blueberry and strawberry picking fields aren’t the only options for picking fresh berries in the state. There are quite a few hikes in Mississippi that boast wildflower and berries throughout the year. One hike that shouldn’t be missed is the Black Creek Hiking Trail. Most associate Black Creek with paddling, as it’s one of the best natural lazy rivers in Mississippi. However, it also offers one of the most beautiful hikes in Mississippi. The trail spans nearly 40 miles, following the Black Creek River. Rated as moderate, it boasts rolling hills, bridges, boardwalks, small streams, ponds, and more. Berries are also a pretty common sight and are often found along the river bank.
