You’ll Hear Live Chimpanzees And Feel Like An Explorer As You Hike The Monkey Trail In Louisiana
There’s a lot to love about Louisiana, and our hiking trails are just the tip of the iceberg. Sure, we may not have those intense hikes with crazy elevation and mountain vista views, but what our trails lack in elevation, they make up for in lush greenery and water views. The Monkey Trail is one of the best trails in Louisiana for hikers and bikers alike, so grab your boots (or bike) and let’s hit the trails, shall we?
You’ll find the Monkey Trail within the Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, just outside of Shreveport.
The trail is located nearby Chimp Haven, a rescue center for chimpanzees. The facility is home to nearly 300 chimps, and you’ll be able to hear them along your walk.
Certainly a change from the typical songbirds that make up the soundtrack to most of our nature trails, this trail is unique in more ways than one, that's for sure.
