Located down in Marrero, Barataria Preserve is filled with dozens of beautiful trails that are perfect for the outdoor explorer. For a truly beautiful hike, take the Bayou Coquille Trail to the Marsh Overlook. The out-and-back trail is just about a mile each way, so you can knock it out pretty quickly.

Barataria Preserve is free to enter and open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor’s Center is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. For more information, be sure to check out the preserve’s website. Parts of trails can be closed, so you’ll want to check the latest updates before you head out.
