There’s one trail, in particular, with endless views that will leave you speechless. Let’s check it out.
Featuring over 20,000 acres of some of Louisiana’s finest natural scenery, it’s fair to say that Barataria Preserve is a nature lover’s paradise.
There are several trails that will take you throughout the preserve, each one more beautiful than the next.
For a truly beautiful hike, take the Bayou Coquille Trail to the Marsh Overlook. The out-and-back trail is just about a mile each way, so you can knock it out pretty quickly.
There are interpretive signs peppered along the trail, so you can learn more about the area. You’ll find benches along the trail, too, which are great for sitting for a moment and taking in the view.
The preserve is home to countless wildlife, so be sure to keep an eye out. You never know what you’ll see along the trails.
At the end of the trail, you’ll come to the marsh overlook. On a clear day, you can see for miles!
You'll also have a lovely bird's eye view of the canal. It's great for gator peeping!
Barataria Preserve is free to enter and open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor's Center is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. For more information, be sure to check out the preserve's website.
