Enjoy An Unexpectedly Magical Hike On This Little-Known Trail In Louisiana

Getting outside and getting those steps in is important, but sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day. I get it. If you're seeking out short and sweet hiking trails near Baton Rouge that won't take up your entire day, then you'll love the Frenchtown Road Conservation Area. Here you'll find plenty of shorter trails that don't compromise on scenery. Let's check it out:

The Frenchtown Road Conservation Area is the largest park operated by BREC.

Also known as the “Land Between the Rivers,” this lovely slice of paradise clocks in at almost 500 acres.

There are over three miles of trails that will take you throughout the Bottomland Hardwood Foret, Small Stream Forest, and Price Pine Hardwood-Flatwood Forest.

All of the trails are less than two miles long, so you can mix and match to fit your schedule.

We’re doing a deep dive on the Hardwood Forest Loop, which is the longest trail here, and even that one is just shy of two miles.

There are countless scenic spots along the trail to admire.

And you might even have the trail all to yourself!

The area is bordered by both the Comite River and the Amite River, so you'll have plenty of waterfront views.

There's even a lovely little stretch of beach on the Amite River side that's just delightful in the warmer months.

This is the perfect trail to explore if you're wanting variety and a little solitude.

The trails are kid-friendly, but since it's a bit of a hidden gem, you could easily find that you have the entire place to yourself.

There are many fascinating areas along the trail including a massive bamboo forest.
