Since 1965, Dwyer’s Cafe Has Been A Culinary Landmark In Louisiana

There’s one little cafe over in Lafayette that’s been serving some of the best diner food in the state for quite the while, and that’s Dwyer’s Cafe. The cafe began as Stinson’s Cafe in the Garden Hotel in 1927. Stanley Dwyer went to work for them in 1942, working his way up the culinary ladder until becoming the head cook and running the kitchen for several years. In 1965, he purchased the cafe from the Stinson’s and renamed it Dwyer’s Cafe. The rest, as they say, is history.
It’s one of those places that locals frequent often, so you’ll never know who you’ll run into when you step inside.
And it’s worth waking up early for.
And the options are endless.
There are several specialty omelettes on the menu, but feel free to build your own with the endless fill-in options.
The hot plate lunches are huge, so be sure to come hungry.
The lunch specials are a wonderful blend of Cajun, Creole and Southern classics including roast pork, smothered chicken, shrimp fettuccine, and BBQ brisket, among many others.
