The Rare Natural Phenomenon In Indiana That Will Go Down In History
You’ve likely been hearing mumblings of an amazing solar eclipse slotted to make its way across the U.S. next month. This natural phenomenon will be more visible in some states than others, but Indiana will experience an 89 – 96% partially eclipsed sun, which is pretty exciting.

This exciting event is being dubbed, "The Great American Eclipse" and will take place on Monday, August 21st. As you can see, this eclipse will be experienced from Oregon to South Carolina.

A solar eclipse happens when the new moon moves between the Sun and the Earth, casting a dark shadow over the planet.

Luckily, in Indiana we have a really good opportunity to check out a partial eclipse. In order to safely view this natural wonder, you'll want to protect your eyes by peering through a pinhole projector or wearing eclipse glasses (which you can find inexpensively online).

Vincennes will get a prime view of the eclipse (starting at 12:55pm and ending at 3:48pm). Lafayette, Muncie, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Seymour (plus nearby areas) will also have a great view, with windows starting a few minutes before or after 12:55pm.
