Paddle boat rentals are available at the park every year from May through September. Hours can vary depending on what time of year it is. During the summer busy season, they are open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Before Memorial Day and after Labor Day they are only open on weekends.
You'll find the rental shack located in the north-central region of the park, right by the park entrance on Myrtle and 3rd Street. Boat rentals cost $10 for a half hour, and $15 for a full hour. The paddle boats are ideal for one or two or people, but they can fit up to three if you're under the 590-pound weight limit.
Once you pay, it's time to pick out your paddle boat! These pontoon-style boats are all completely human-powered via foot pedals. Most similar in feel to riding a bike, they are easy enough to operate that you probably won't be working up a sweat during your ride.
The boats are inherently slow and easygoing, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. As you pedal around the pond, you'll be swept away by the park's gorgeous landscape including the lush canopy of trees that lines the waterways.
Don't forget to keep an eye out for wildlife! You'll more than likely run into a few ducks and geese during your ride, but the park is a hot spot of birding activity. Look up to the trees and you'll be able to spot some of the bird species that call this urban oasis home.
