There are plenty of options for macaroni and cheese in New York State, but if you want a take on the classic American dish that is truly exceptional—and award winning—it's worth making the trip to Druthers Brewing Company. The original outpost of Druthers is located in the town of Saratoga Springs, New York—population under 30,000. It's the best macaroni and cheese in New York State.
How good is Druthers mac and cheese? Last year, the website Tasting Table picked the best macaroni and cheese in every state, and, despite plenty of fierce competition, they gave the New York State crown to Druthers.
The legendary "Druthers Mac" is made with a seven-cheese sauce and creste di-gallo pasta whipped up from scratch. Then there is the house chip and panko garnish to top everything off. You can also get a "loaded" version of the mac and cheese with pulled chicken, bacon, ranch and BBQ sauce. Seasonal options are also available.
Though the Saratoga Springs location is their original, Druthers also has three other great outposts: Albany, Schenectady and then a second location on the Saratoga Springs waterfront.
If you come to Druthers for their macaroni and cheese, you don't have to leave thirsty. They have plenty of beverage options, including a slate of beers brewed in-house. There are both year-round and seasonal varieties.
Other menu items include epic burgers, seafood options and great tacos. But you are probably going to want to check out that mac and cheese.
More than just mac and cheese, Druthers is a true destination for a night of excellent food and drink. You can even end your meal with a desert. Perhaps a chocolate fudge cake?
There is good macaroni and cheese and then there is great macaroni and cheese, and there is no question that Druthers Brewing Company's version of the dish falls into the latter category. It's mac and cheese that goes the extra mile, and it's worth making a road trip for. While you are in Saratoga Springs, it's for sure worth visiting one of the many natural mineral springs in the area that are open to the public.
