Looking for the best restaurants in Montana? Well, you've come to the right place! Bucket lists aren’t just for daring adventures or exotic travel. If you’d rather stick to something safer and more delicious, make a list of local restaurants you’d like to try in your lifetime. There are many amazing spots to enjoy the best food in Montana, and the following list includes the 11 best places to eat in Montana.
1. Sir Scott’s Oasis - Manhattan
Unfortunately, this restaurant has permanently closed. This steakhouse has become a Montana icon. There may be restaurants nearby that are just as good or better, but try Sir Scott’s Oasis anyways to see how it rates.
2. Grizzly Bar - Roscoe
"Where is Roscoe?" you might ask. It's in the middle of nowhere, only a few miles from Red Lodge. However, this restaurant in this tiny town is known statewide as one of the best places to get a burger or steak.
3. The Burger Dive - Billings
Billings’ most popular burger joint deserves a spot on this list not only for their creative burgers like "The Jerk" and "Juicy Lucy," but also for their one-of-a-kind shakes.
4. The Sip & Dip Lounge - Great Falls
Sometimes it’s all about the ambiance. You should add this to your Montana restaurant bucket list just so you can say you drank a tropical cocktail in a tiki bar with mermaids in Great Falls.
5. Biga Pizza - Missoula
This is brick oven pizza done right. Biga Pizza has everything from classic pies like pepperoni to unique pizza options using local ingredients like flathead cherries.
6. Black Iron Grill & Rotisserie - Miles City
This is one of the best places in the area to get a steak, and they also have a great selection of soups, salads, burgers, and seafood.
7. Montana Ale Works - Bozeman
Don’t let the name fool you. This place is about so much more than beer (though they’ve got plenty of that, too). From classic burgers to creative entrees and an impressive cocktail list, Montana Ale Works has something for everyone. Plus, the building is in an old train station, which somehow makes it even cooler.
8. Polebridge Mercantile & Bakery - Polebridge
You won’t be able to post immediate photos of all the sugary treats you’ll find at the bakery here (like huckleberry cupcakes). Polebridge is so far off the grid you can’t get cell phone service, but it’s still worth the drive.
9. Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant - East Glacier Park
This spot serves delicious Southwest inspired Mexican food out of an old house built by a mountaineer named Tom Dawson in 1909. After a day spent exploring Glacier, you can enjoy a hot meal and a piece of Montana’s history at the same time.
10. Lucca’s - Helena
There’s Italian food, and then there’s Lucca’s. They’ve recently won the title of "Best Restaurant in Montana," so their pasta and entrees are certainly worth a try.
11. MacKenzie River Pizza Co. - Multiple Locations
Last but not least on our list of best restaurants in Montana is MacKenzie River Pizza Co. This might be a chain, but it originated in Montana, hence the slogan "Big Pie from the Big Sky." Their first restaurant opened in Bozeman more than 20 years ago and they’ve since expanded to several states because they’re just that good.
We know there are many more Montana restaurants worth at least one visit. What other places would you add to this list of the best restaurants in Montana? Let us know in the comments below!
