A "Best of the Gold Coast" member and a constant on Open Table's "Diner's Choice," The Schoolhouse at Cannondale has a menu that will make you melt. But it's not just the plates that make this spot unique. It doesn't just look like a schoolhouse, it actually used to be one.

This schoolhouse was built in 1872, just after the Civil War. While the outside still resembles a New England school, quaint and full of charm, the interior has been completely remodeled.

Where chalkboards and rows of desks once sat, you'll know find rows of dining tables and modern lighting.

June Havoc, Hollywood and vaudeville star, originally purchased the schoolhouse for $1 and later moved it to Cannondale. She chose the perfect spot because this place is loaded with charm and has outdoor seating right at the river's edge.

The couple who owns this place met in kindergarten and are huge fans of fresh, local ingredients. They enjoy making plates that are light but filling and have lots of flavor. Like their delectable Striped Bass with Fregula, Baby Beets, Arugula & Baby Zucchini.

And for dessert? How about a Peach & Millstone Farm Raspberry Crostata with Vanilla Ice Cream!
