This One Alabama Restaurant Serves The Best Desserts In The South

Here in the south, we love our desserts. From pies and cakes, to cobblers and puddings, we simply can't get enough sweet treats. Alabama is home to many restaurants that are as well known for their desserts as their main dishes. One of these restaurants is Chez Fonfon, which you can read all about below.

Chez Fonfon, which opened in 2000, is a cozy French bistro that's located in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to its regular mouthwatering entrees, this award-winning restaurant is also well known for its delicious desserts.

Recently, Southern Living included Chez Fonfon on its list "The South’s Best Desserts 2018." After trying one of the restaurant's desserts, it's easy to understand why it made the list.

The person ultimately responsible for Chez Fonfon's decadent confections is award winning pastry chef Dolister Miles. She can be seen here preparing her legendary Coconut Pecan Cake.

Even though Chez Fonfon's famous Coconut Pecan Cake has grown in popularity over the years, the restaurant also offers other desserts, including a Lemon Meringue Tart...

...a slice of Opera Cake, and...

...a generous helping of Chocolate Pot De Creme - a French dessert custard that dates all the way back to the 17th century.

The next time you dine at Chez Fonfon, don't forget to save room for dessert. If you're really lucky, the restaurant's Chocolate Caramel Nut Tart (pictured) might be available on the day of your visit. It's a definite must-try!
