The Ice Skating Rink In South Carolina Where You Can Skate Outdoors In The Heart Of Rock Hill’s Old Town
As much as we love our milder winter climate, those who do enjoy certain winter activities may find themselves looking for opportunities to travel outside of the state for more options. Thankfully, you don't have to go far, with our neighbors in North Carolina offering plenty of winter fun, such as ski resorts, a winter mountain coaster, snow tubing, and more in the tiny town of Banner Elk. But if you want to stay in-state, ice skating is one of the handful of quintessential winter activities in South Carolina!
Old Town Rock Hill is one of the cities in South Carolina where you can go ice skating during the winter. Founders Holiday Ice Rink is located on Saluda Street across from Fountain Park in historic downtown Rock Hill.
It's an open-air ice skating rink so you can get plenty of healthy, fresh air.
The rink is now covered by a large tent overhead, which means it's able to stay open even sometimes during rainy or snowy winter conditions. The weather is monitored and decisions to close the rink due to unsafe conditions are made when deemed necessary.
Founders Holiday Ice Rink is a wonderful place for a family outing or to meet with friends to make some new memories together outside in the winter.
If you're a beginner skater and need some support, just grab one of the ice skating walkers until you're more comfortable! It's great to get your kids started early like this little guy. He'll have it figured out in no time flat!
Skates are included with the price of admission. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own skates; however, the price stays the same regardless.
During the holiday season, you may get a chance to see Santa, who pops in at the rink on occasion.
This South Carolina ice skating rink is open seasonally beginning sometime in November and runs through part of January. It's especially beautiful at night surrounded by the scenery of colorful Christmas lights.
Check the Founders Holiday Ice Rink page on the Old Town Rock Hill website or the Founders Holiday Ice Rink Facebook page for updates, hours, and cost of admission for the current season. Be sure to take a good pair of warm gloves to wear, recommended to help protect your hands from the ice if you happen to fall while skating!
