Ride The Rails Through New Jersey’s Countryside On This Historic Train

New Jersey offers scenic train rides through Whippany Railway Museum, featuring vintage cabooses and themed trips.

New Jersey has a rich railroading history and miles of track. We've got the PATH Train into New York City, the PATCO into Philadelphia, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, Newark Light Rail, River Line Light Rail, a wide network of commuter rail lines (Montclair-Boonton, Raritan Valley...), and major rail providers including Amtrak. While these lines are most often used for business and travel, New Jersey is also home to smaller, private companies that provide scenic rides.

Excursion train rides! These scenic rides run for about 10 miles and 45 minutes.

You'll journey through the remnants of pre-historic Glacial Lake Passaic, a natural swamp which supports abundant wildlife, such as deer, turtles, wild turkeys, hawks and rabbits.

The trains feature a unique collection of restored, vintage cabooses from historic rail lines that once served New Jersey and the Metropolitan area.

Tickets are just $16 for adults ($11 for children) and include admission to the museum. You can upgrade to the Jersey Coast Club Car (pictured) for just $3 more.

In addition to the regular rides, they offer themed trips. The Halloween Express serves up spooky fun and you won't want to miss the Ice Cream Train on July 8th.
