Seeing The Massive Snow Sculptures In The Small Town Of Seeley Lake, Montana Will Be Your Favorite Winter Memory

You might think that Montana is a quiet, desolate place in the winter, aside from our iconic ski resorts. But if you call the Treasure State home, you know that's not true... in fact, we have plenty of special festivals and events to celebrate the snowy season. For two wonderful weeks each January, the tiny town of Seeley Lake hosts its annual Winterfest, and the massive snow sculptures are only part of the appeal.

Editor's note: This event has passed, but you can learn more about Seeley Lake in this article.

Seeley Lake's Winterfest takes place every January, drawing a crowd to a town that mainly relies on summer tourism.

This is an absolutely gorgeous time of year to visit the area.

You'll be set in the middle of two picturesque mountain ranges with some pretty impressive lake views, all while everything is dusted with snow.

The festival has quite a few events and attractions, from snowmobile charity rides to ice skating parties.

But, of course, one of the biggest draws of the entire thing is the unique collection of snow sculptures.

Participants can enter the snow sculpture contest, which is judged after the first week of the festival.

Montanans work hard to create these one-of-a-kind beauties.

Walking around town and looking at the sculptures will make a winter lover out of anyone.

After all, it's hard to be in a bad mood when something like this is staring at you.

Aside from the sculptures, you can enjoy an ice fishing tournament, a dinner and auction, and good old-fashioned small-town hospitality.

The festival culminates with an impressive fireworks show and a bonfire at Lindey's Prime Steak House.

If cabin fever is getting the best of you, make the road trip out to Seeley Lake and check out Winterfest this weekend.

You'll see why the event is so popular.

Have you ever been to Winterfest? When you go, make sure to enjoy a hearty meal at Lindey's Prime Steakhouse.
