It’s Almost Time For Another Amazing Lineup At Fort Peck Summer Theatre In Montana

It's safe to say it's been a pretty strange year in Montana, and summer still looks like a giant question mark. But for those who consider taking in a show at Fort Peck Summer Theatre an annual tradition, we have good news: the theatre staff has decided to proceed with most of its summer lineup this year, although there will certainly be adjustments made for everyone's safety (a late start, extra sanitizing efforts, etc.) - and wait until you see the fantastic schedule.

The Fort Peck Summer Theatre was originally built to entertain those working on the construction of the Fort Peck Dam back in 1934.

The 1960s were a time of change for Fort Peck, with a lot of local buildings being demolished. However, the locals decided to put every effort into saving this theatre, which had become a beloved icon.

The Fort Peck Fine Arts Council has cared for this building for decades, owning it since 1987.

It's a point of pride in the community.

Every summer, thousands of people flock from all over the West (and even Canada) to take in the performances here.

The actors are always top notch, delivering award-worthy performances.

There's even a slight but real chance you'll catch more than a show here -- rumor has it that the Fort Peck Summer Theatre is haunted.

Many a performer and staff member have heard strange sounds in the dressing rooms. Some have even seen apparitions and heard the distinct sounds of men working when the venue is empty.

But rest assured, even if the theatre is haunted, you won't encounter any evil spirits -- just a spirited production.

The most common apparition spotted here is one of a man wearing 1930s work clothes that is believed to be the spirit of a man who died during the building's construction in 1934.

This year, performances will begin at the theatre on July 3 instead of early June.

Shows will include The Sunshine Boys, Working, Love Letters, Wait Until Dark, and God Help Us, starring none other than Ed Asner.

Montana is lucky to have this amazing historic gem, and we're excited to welcome back the performers and audience this summer.
