Have A Summer Adventure And Dig For Fossils At Two Medicine Dinosaur Center In Montana
Two Medicine Dinosaur Center in Montana offers fossil digs and a museum experience, making it a must-see for dinosaur enthusiasts.
Social distancing is second nature for Montanans. The vast majority of us would prefer to enjoy our wide-open spaces without anyone else around (except a select few loved ones, perhaps). And since digging for fossils involves being outdoors and away from the crowds, we highly recommend a dig at Two Medicine Dinosaur Center this summer. This place is a wealth of information for Montana's prehistoric past.
You'll find Two Medicine Dinosaur Center in the town of Bynum, about 65 miles northwest of Great Falls.
This nonprofit organization, which has secured a spot on Montana's official Dinosaur Trail, has been around since 1995.
The full onsite museum is fascinating and well worth the price of admission (which is only $5, by the way).
Due to current conditions, the staff will be limiting the number of people allowed inside, so please call ahead about 24 hours before you plan to visit.
The museum is also a research facility that's dedicated to preserving fossils in the local areas where they're discovered.
Several thousand Montanans visit each year, hoping to learn more.
But while the museum is great, it's the fossil digs that really put this place on the map.
After all, the best way to really learn about something is to experience it for yourself.
The dig program consists of short half-day experiences and lengthier five-day dig programs that really allow you to, well, dig in.
There is no age minimum, although bringing very young children along is typically not recommended.
This summer's dig dates will be announced soon and the program is set to run from mid-June through July.
The Two Medicine Dinosaur Center is one of just two museums in the state that employs degreed paleontological staff, so you know you're getting the real deal.
Whether or not you decide to dig, this place is an absolute must-see for all Montanans.
Check it out this summer, and go for a dig if you dare.
