Year After Year, Country Bookshelf Is Heralded As Montana’s Best Bookstore
Country Bookshelf in Bozeman, Montana, is a beloved independent bookstore known for its rich history, diverse selection, and community events.
Montanans love a good bookstore. The Treasure State has more bookstores per capita than any other, and a surprisingly large number of authors and writers call Livingston home. But even in a state full of new and used bookstores, there's one that seems to stand out year after year. If you've ever been to Country Bookshelf in Bozeman, you probably know why it's everyone's favorite.
Country Bookshelf is located on Bozeman's bustling Main Street, where it has been for decades.
The bookstore dates all the way back to 1957, when Polly Renne opened it just off Tracy Avenue. When Mary Jane DiSanti bought the bookstore in 1986, she moved it to its current location.
Country Bookshelf has been listed in Martha Stewart's "Best Places to Find the Best Reads" and Paste Magazine's "17 Awesome Indie Bookstores."
Afar Magazine named it one of the "Best Indepedent Bookstores in the United States."
This magical place hosts over 100 events each year, from small book clubs to large book signings by well-known authors.
And even though the events have been out on hold for the time being, everyone in Bozeman is looking forward to the day they can resume.
The shop also has plenty of annual sales and promotions to encourage Montanans to find their next good read.
But rest assured, their regular places are just fine.
From controversial publications to beloved children's books, you'll find a little bit of everything here...
...and that includes gifts, stationery, and calendars.
Basically, this is the best place in the city to browse.
While Country Bookshelf has had to temporarily close its storefront, you can still call in orders or order books online.
Not only will they ship you your next great read, but if you live in Bozeman, you can schedule a pick-up.
Even if you can't go inside, privately owned bookstores like this have infinitely more character than a box store or chain. For more information on ordering books from Montana's favorite bookstore, check out Country Bookshelf's website.
