Celebrate Winter’s Outdoor Recreation At SNoFLINGA In Montana

When was the last time you attended a classic Montana festival? Despite having a natural knack for social distancing, Montanans do love to come together and celebrate life. And as luck would have it, the annual SNoFLINGA in Butte will be taking place in January once again. Things will definitely be different this year, but there's still a fantastic line-up your entire family can enjoy.

SNoFLINGA is held in Butte every January, a weekend of fun meant to shine a light on the long, dark, cold winter.

The festival has been a huge hit with the locals since its beginnings a few years ago.

SNoFLINGA is free to attend, although you'll have to pay for your activities.

But plenty of Montanans come each year simply to enjoy watching the fun and to cheer on their family and friends.

Usually, the event is full of winter events, from Nordic ski races and fat bike races to skijorning.

They even host a Polar Plunge event for anyone who dares to run into the cold water this time of year.

This event is completely family-friendly — in fact, there are usually a few special events for kids.

One day of the festival is a dedicated Kids' Day with plenty of all-ages activities.

This is the adorable Bjorn, SNoFLINGA's mascot.

He's here to remind us that times are different this year, and that means the festival will be different as well. A lot of the activities will be virtual in 2021.

You'll still be able to participate in the Nordic ski races at Homestake Lodge this year, as well as snowshoe treks and other activities that allow for proper distancing.

This year, you can also enjoy a virtual 5K, a virtual kids' day, and plenty of other activities you can do remotely at the same time as your fellow Montanans.
