When buildings are abandoned, eventually nature will take its course. Montana is full of old structures that were once homes and places of business that, for whatever reason, were left to the elements. When you come across one, you can't help but wonder what the story is behind it and how it got that way. Here are eight abandoned places in Montana that nature is reclaiming.
1. This old abandoned Montana farm house is located in the central part of the state.
It's near the community of Broadview, between Billings and Lewistown.
2. This is the now abandoned First State Bank building in Buffalo.
3. This house in Cohagen has seen better days.
Cohagen is a tiny town that lies southeast of Jordan on Highway 59.
4. This Miles City Plaza building looks more recently abandoned.
But nature wasted no time in claiming its space.
5. This is all that remains of a cabin at the Coolidge Ghost Town.
Nature is reclaiming the entire mining town of Coolidge, one of the most remarkable Montana ghost towns.

6. This sagging old barn sits in the Bitterroot Valley near Stevensville.
This entire area is loaded with history, so there's no telling what this old farm has seen.
7. This house in Butte is clearly no longer a home.
If you're looking for "abandoned places near me" in Butte, you're sure to find some like this one around town.
8. These old houses in the heart of Virginia City have held up surprisingly well.
