The Swinging Bridge Festival In Mississippi Is A Unique Way To Spend A Summer Day

Byram Swinging Bridge and its annual festival offer a historic and fun-filled summer event for all ages.

Without a doubt, the swinging bridge at Tishomingo State Park is the most popular in the state. But that doesn’t mean it’s the only swinging bridge that deserves a spot on your bucket list. Byram Swinging Bridge is another, and not just because it’s historic but because it has inspired an annual festival that offers fun for all ages.

Every June, crowds gather at the Jackson Dragway, under the Byram Swinging Bridge, for the annual Swinging Bridge Festival.

Built in 1905 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the bridge remains an integral part of the community – even though it’s been closed to vehicular traffic for years.

The festival, which made its debut in 2012, isn’t quite as historic as the bridge it’s named after.

But just because it’s one of the state’s newer fests, don’t assume it’s not worth a visit.

Since day one, the purpose of the festival was to provide fun and excitement for the entire family – and that’s exactly what it does.

Over the course of the two-day affair, festival-goers can enjoy a slew of festivities.

In addition to live music, there are carnival rides, a corn hole tournament, a car show, and fireworks.

There are food and craft vendors too.

Offering a weekend of activities and entertainment in a historical setting, the Swinging Bridge Festival is the perfect way to kick off the summer season!

Make sure to mark your calendar. The Swinging Bridge Festival is June 17-18, 2022.
