That’s the case with Tracy General Store, a small-town store that has been serving southern Idaho since the 1800s. Here, you can purchase all types of goods from snacks and pop to candy and ice cream — it has it all! It is one store you will not want to drive by.
You will find Tracy General Store in the heart of Almo, Idaho. This store is near City of Rocks Reserve and may feel like it is in the middle of nowhere.
But this store is truly one of a kind. Tracy General Store was founded by two brothers, William and Harry Eames in 1894. It is the longest continually operating store in Idaho and a staple in southern Idaho.
While much work has been done to restore and improve this historic building, you’ll still see much of its history today like the cash register that was used for decades.
The post office is even in this general store and has been since the store's beginning.
As you walk around, you’ll notice this isn’t a large Idaho store, but it certainly offers plenty of items. You’ll find all types of grocery items on the shelf from snacks and canned goods to even cleaning supplies and other odds and ends.
Many locals and tourists stop in for some of the homemade and freshly-prepared food as well as the ice cream. This is the place to go in Almo when you are searching for a sweet treat or lunch on the go.
While Tracy General Store may be small, a visit is certainly unforgettable. Make sure you stop on in the next time you are in Almo.
