There’s An Ostrich Farm In Arizona And You’re Going To Love It
What kind of place comes to mind when you apply the title “The Darndest Place to Visit?” Perhaps something slightly adventurous with a touch of whimsy and nostalgia? If that’s what you have in mind, then you are going to love this farm and petting zoo we’re going to highlight today, which possesses all those qualities in an offbeat roadside attraction.
Let’s take a look!
Welcome to the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch, a secluded petting zoo and farm located just off Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Tucson.
It sits just south of the epic Picacho Peak State Park, which gives an impressive scenic view.
The ranch has been in operation since 1999 when feeding an ostrich was the primary attraction, you can still do so today, but so much more has been added to the ranch’s list of activities.
Since its inception, the farm has referred to itself as the "Darndest Place You’ll Ever Visit." We agree!
The ranch has added a long list of exotic and domesticated animals that you can watch, pet, and feed! Among those are some petting zoo favorites like goats…
The ostrich ranch is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from now through April 30. On May 1, the ranch’s summer hours take effect and the days open will be reduced to Fridays through Mondays.

If you’re in the northern part of the state, there are several other fantastic exotic animal zoos and sanctuaries to visit. One of our favorites is Bearizona, which you can read about in our previous article: Visit This Little Known Arizona Park For The Time Of Your Life.
