7 Easy Boardwalk Hikes In Alaska That Offer Stunning Views
Alaska has some incredible hiking trails that you need to take advantage of this summer. But if you want to take the whole family along, these seven easy boardwalk hikes in Alaska are the perfect pit stop. Get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and a hike that’s easy enough for everyone in your party to do!

1. Potter Marsh, Anchorage, Alaska
This beautiful boardwalk rises high above the marsh in Alaska’s biggest city. It’s an easy one-mile loop where you’ll see plenty of wildlife, including tons of moose and local birds. It’s a beautiful way to get out of the city without going too far. And there’s plenty of free parking available!
2. Hungry Point Trail and Nature Boardwalk Loop, Petersburg, Alaska
This is a lovely, easy trail perfect for a stroller or bike. Take the quiet trail on a 1.5-mile loop, and see if you can spot any black tailed deer nearby. It’s right in town, so you won’t have to go far to hike this beautiful spot!
3. Beluga Slough Trail, Homer, Alaska
This easy 1.2-mile loop is located right on the ocean in Homer, Alaska. This little trail runs from the Visitor Center back down to the ocean and back. It’s an easy walk on a grated boardwalk, crafted so that it stays clear of ice. Expect killer views of the bay and mountains beyond.
4. Lunch Falls Trail, Ketchikan, Alaska
Lunch Falls Trail belongs on everyone’s bucket list, because it looks like you’ve stepped right out into a fairy tale! Starting at Settler's Cove parking lot in Ketchikan, this stunning hike takes you in a .8-mile loop up to a waterfall. While not entirely a boardwalk, the entire trail is filled with stairs, a charming bridge, and wooden planks to walk on.
5. Rodak Naturę Loop, Eagle River Nature Center, Alaska
A longtime favorite of locals, the Rodak Nature Loop is the perfect quick walk out to Eagle River, where you can get on a boardwalk over the water and gaze at the spectacular scenery around you. It’s an easy .8-mile loop, clearly marked and well maintained. Just keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife like bears, and enjoy the trail.
6. Wasilla Creek Trail, Wasilla, Alaska
This easy .8-mile out and back trail in Wasilla will take you into meadow for beautiful views of the mountain range. It’s a flat, three foot wide boardwalk, with a very gentle grade of only 5%. Enjoy this stroll with the whole family!
7. Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Kenai, Alaska
Spot the flora, fauna, and Alaskan views at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. This trail is a 2.6-mile loop that everyone loves, even the wildlife. Make sure you come dressed for the mosquitoes, and you’ll be fine! There’s plenty of parking at the trailhead. This is a great summer hike when you’re on the Kenai Peninsula.
