If you love spring cross country skiing, Moose Meadows in Girdwood is the absolute best place to pack up the family and explore. With wide open spaces, tons of fresh snow, and views to die for, this is a must-do for your weekend plans.
Located a short 40 minute drive from Anchorage, it's the perfect morning or afternoon day trip for anyone who wants to get away from it all. It's a 1.6-mile easy flat loop that rings around a meadow and offers views of glaciers, mountain tops, and more.
The views are stunning, and after a fresh snow, it's hard to beat the winter atmosphere you'll be skiing in. This area is perfect for winter fun, as Girdwood is located in the northern most temperate rainforest, and receives tons of snow each winter season!

The trails allow many users, including multi-use options that allow dogs, snowshoes, bicycles, and skiing. There are some areas that are solely dedicated to Nordic skiing, so keep your eyes peeled for the signs letting you know which activity is allowed on the trail you're cruising on.

The Girdwood Nordic Ski Club maintains these lovely trails, and grooms many of them regularly, depending on the weather. Volunteers work hard to bring you a beautiful spot to ski, so make sure to pack out all trash; including dog waste.
It takes a little while for the snow to harden, so you'll want to wait to have the best experience. If you're snowshoeing or walking, please try to stay to the right of the tracks, and stick to the fresh snow on the edges. But most of all, have fun!
