The Bankhead National Forest is a popular outdoor spot in North Alabama. Covering more than 181,000 acres, it's also one of the state's four National Forests.

The Borden Creek Hiking Trail, which is nestled within the forest's Sipsey Wilderness area and follows alongside Borden Creek, is a 5-mile out-and-back trail with a moderate rating. It begins at the parking lot on the south end of the Sipsey Wilderness at Trailhead 200.
