Kick off your waterfall adventure at Michigan’s largest and most famous falls: Tahquamenon. This stunning spot sits within a state park and features both upper and lower falls to explore. The Upper Falls are especially spectacular, spanning 200 feet across with an impressive 50-foot drop. Accessible off H-58 near Grand Marais, Sable Falls features a 75-foot drop and unique sandstone formations surrounded by pretty foliage in all seasons. The trailway at Miners Falls comprises a 1.2-mile roundtrip loop, so you can stretch your legs after ample time in the car. 5. Fumee Falls (Hwy 2 near Iron Mountain and Quinnisec)
Next, take time to check out this small but beautiful Michigan waterfall that’s tucked away in Iron County. It might be less famous than some of the larger, more towering falls in the Upper Peninsula, but we still think it’s worth a look. Conveniently, the waterfall sits just off the roadside along US-2, accompanied by restroom facilities and space to stretch your legs. As you continue along the waterfall loop, this is an ideal pit stop.
6. Rapid River Falls (off US-41 in Delta County)

Last but not least on our road trip is Rapid River Falls, a relatively flat yet still impressive waterfall situated within the aptly named Rapid River Falls Park off US-41. If you prefer quiet, calm atmospheres that aren’t quite so populated by tourists, this is an awesome place to unwind and appreciate nature. The waterfall itself reaches a maximum drop height of just four feet, so it’s certainly not towering - but it will capture your imagination nonetheless as you wrap up your jaunt through some of the U.P.’s most enchanting locales.
