A Drone Flew Over Long Beach Island In New Jersey And Captured Mesmerizing Footage

There’s Christmas in July, why can’t there be a little summer in the winter? This stunning video will transport you to the Jersey Shore, like you’ve never seen it before. As you’re mesmerized by the sights, you’ll start to experience the sounds, smells and maybe even that special summer feeling. It takes you over gorgeous Long Beach Island, from Barnegat to Beach Haven. After you’re enchanted by the footage (captured by Matt Sholly), read on for some interesting facts about New Jersey’s own slice of paradise, LBI.

In love? Me, too! And Long Beach Island is such a fascinating place! It has one of the most mild winters in the Garden State and the very last frost in New Jersey, thanks to the warmer Atlantic waters that surround it. While it is approximately 18 miles long, the island is just 1/2-mile wide at its widest point. At its narrowest point, there is only 1/5-mile between the ocean and the bay. That narrow point lies in Harvey Cedars, one of LBI’s six distinct municipalities. The other five municipalities are: Barnegat Light, Beach Haven, Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom and Surf City.

Family-friendly and a bit more relaxed than neighboring towns like Seaside Heights, there is still plenty to do. In addition to sunbathing, surfing and swimming, visitors can climb Barnegat Lighthouse, visit the charming Viking Village (click here to learn more), hop on every ride at Fantasy Island Amusement Park, laze around Thundering Surf Waterpark, or get their learning on at the Museum of NJ Maritime History. There are also some fantastic restaurants on Long Beach Island including La Spiaggia (Northern Italian), Ship Bottom Shellfish (casual seafood), Mustache Bill’s (retro diner) and Black Eyed Susans (seasonal American).

Have you been to Long Beach Island? What’s your favorite neighborhood? (I can’t decide, but I did have some amazing summer evenings in Harvey Cedars, looking up at the stars and then out at the ocean.)
