This Small Town Bakery In Mississippi Has Some Of The Best Pie In The South

New Albany is nestled in the hills of north Mississippi, just an hour south of Memphis.

Like most small towns, it's home to a charming Main Street that's brimming with quaint shops and eateries.

Among the businesses that line the picturesque street, you'll find Sugaree's Bakery.

Step inside, and you'll be met with the aroma of freshly baked breads, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, pies, and more.

Though it was initially the bakery's classic southern cakes that brought in customers...

...the homemade pies are now just as popular.

Since a great pie begins with a great crust, Sugaree's makes their own from scratch.

The flaky pie crusts are made using only quality ingredients, like farm fresh eggs and White Lily Flour.

The homemade crusts are then stuffed with a variety of tasty fillings. Choose between fruit-filled pies (when in season), pecan pies, chess pies, sweet potato pies, and...

...Sugaree's famous chocolate meringue pie.

The signature dessert comes in two sizes, with the larger of the two weighing 5 pounds!

While pecan, chess, and sweet potato pies are available all week, the enormous meringue is only sold on Fridays, so plan your visit accordingly.

Aside from fresh baked eats and sweet treats, you can stock up on other made-from-scratch goodies, including Sugaree's strawberry jam.
