Hot Springs In West Virginia

Where is another one of the best hot springs in the U.S.?

Chena Hot Springs, in Fairbanks, Alaska, was founded on Aug. 5, 1905, more than 100 years ago, by two gold-mining brothers, Robert and Thomas Swan. Steam was spotted rising from a valley somewhere on the upper Chena River, and the brothers knew it had to be a hot spring. About a month after leaving Fairbanks, their travels led them to the North Fork of the Chena and up that tributary to the mouth of Monument Creek where they discovered the hot springs on August 5, 1905. It didn't take long for others to find out, and by 1911, the property featured a bathhouse, a stable, and 12 small cabins for visitors.

It was settled in 1869 by German and Swiss pioneers who came from Brooklyn, New York, putting their hearts and souls into building the town, leaving their remnants behind. Some of the original log cabins are still standing. If you like history, this is surely a place to put on your list of travels.
