Feast On Authentic Italian Cuisine At Zio Sal, A True Hidden Gem In Washington

Zio Sal is a fairly new hidden gem of a casual Italian eatery, but the food's flavors are reminiscent of Old World Italian cuisine.

Zio Sal is located in downtown Redmond, where it has been since its 2019 opening.

However, the history behind this place goes back much further.

Owner and chef Salvatore Lembo was born in Sicily and raised in Tuscany before moving to the United States in 1986.

After spending years mastering the art of Italian cuisine, he opened Firenze Ristorante in 1991. Zio Sal Restorante Italiano opened in Redmond last year.

If you've ever been to Italy, you know the food is fresh, simple, and absolutely delicious.

And since most of the ingredients in the food here are imported from Italy, you can get a taste of the authentic cuisine without crossing the Atlantic.

Zio Sal serves all the classics, like Antipasti and pasta with housemade sauce.

The Spaghetti Carbonara and Gnocchi alla Sorrentina are to die for.

Of course, it wouldn't be an Italian eatery without pizza.

It's available whole or by the slice.

While the indoor dining area is beautiful, due to current conditions, many patrons choose to opt for takeout or to sit outdoors.

Between the heat lamps and the covered area, you'll stay nice and warm while you dine.

Zio Sal is open daily for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
