You Don’t Need to Ski to Love This Snow Tubing Hill in Pennsylvania

No experience is needed to enjoy a fun day of snow tubing at Roundtop Mountain.

As I glance out my window at the many inches of snow that continue to accumulate in my yard, the cold weather beckons me, and I feel the urge to head for the slopes. But this winter, I plan to trade in my skis and poles for another kind of snowy adventure, one that involves less skill and little to no experience. Snow tubing is my winter activity of choice this year, and a trip to Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, is on my radar.

Tubing is a great way to bring your whole family together for an afternoon or evening of outdoor adventure. No prior ski instruction is necessary, and you don’t even need to purchase or rent any special equipment. Be sure to dress for the weather, however, because you are sure to get a little wet and snowy.

Riders over 42 inches tall are welcome to hit the Roundtop tubing hill and enjoy up to 10 exhilarating tubing lanes. Once you glide down once, you are sure to want to head up for another ride! Luckily, each session lasts for up to two hours and includes unlimited runs, allowing for an epic day of winter fun!

Perhaps you are hesitant about trying tubing because you are having flashbacks to your childhood days of dragging a heavy, snow-covered sled up a grueling hill in cumbersome winter gear. But you need not worry. Tubing at Roundtop Mountain is super easy because the tubing area has an enclosed magic carpet lift. Just hop on and next thing you know, you are at the top of the hill, all ready for another epic run down the lanes.

Mountain conditions regularly change due to the weather, so be sure to check the Roundtop Mountain Resort website before heading out. If you prefer a faster ride down the lanes, you may want to consider visiting on a colder day, whereas slower runs are often experienced when the temperature is a little higher.

No matter what the weather brings, a mug of steamy hot chocolate is a welcome treat when you are finished tubing. The Mountainview Lodge is conveniently located right next to the tubing slopes and is a great place to warm up. Head inside and indulge yourself with unlimited cocoa for an additional five dollars. The lodge also features pizza, hot dogs, tacos, and mac and cheese.

Snow tubing sessions at Roundtop take place seasonally on Wednesdays through Sundays. You can also try evening tubing on most of these days. In addition to tubing, Roundtop Mountain also features fantastic skiing, snowboarding, and special events. While in Lewisberry, you may also wish to visit Gifford Pinchot State Park. You can also use our convenient AI Travel planner to help you customize your trip to the area.
