A day at Gifford Pinchot State Park, a 2,238-acre park in Lewisberry, inevitably means spending at least some time on or near the water.
Arguably the crown jewel of this Pennsylvania state park, the 340-acre Pinchot Lake draws those who want to explore by boat, kayak, and canoe.
If you're visiting between Memorial Day and Labor Day, rent a canoe, kayak, paddleboat, or row boat.
Don't forget to pack your swim gear if you're visiting during the summer. Pinchot Lake provides an idyllic setting for sunbathing and swimming. It also has a seasonal snack bar.
Iceboating and ice skating are both popular on Pinchot Lake in the winter. If you prefer to stay on solid (albeit frozen, snow-covered) ground, explore the trails on skis.

Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are all popular ways to explore this sprawling state park in Pennsylvania. The park offers 18 miles of trails.
Snap photos of the resident birds, including warblers, thrushes, and waterfowl, and sunning turtles.
If you've got a competitive side, head over to the 18-hole disc golf course for a round or two.
Sit back and watch deer graze.
Pinchot Lake offers breathtaking views in all seasons. Drink in the sensational foliage during the fall.
Or sit back and watch the snowfall in the winter.
